PARKING SPACES TO ACCOMMODATE CAR/CYCLISTS

Referred by City Council at its meeting of 27 June 2018

 

COUNCIL MOTION No. 72/10
WHEREAS City staff have reviewed the request to designate a few parking spots at Andrew Haydon park for those who drive through the Greenbelt and then cycle to work, shortening the bike ride to a more meaningful distance; and
WHEREAS staff, in a response to an inquiry (listed on the agenda of the Council meeting of June 27th) have identified a park off Carling Avenue where ten of the 50 parking spots could be identified for this use;

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED  that the Transportation Committee deal with the request for car/cyclists who live outside the Greenbelt and work in Central Ottawa at its meeting in August; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the interim and until a final decision has been made on this item that the car/cyclists that have been using Andrew Haydon Park (maximum of 10) be provided with a card that permits them to park in the location off Carling on work days provided that the note providing permission is displayed on the dash of their car.

GATEWAY SPEED LIMIT SIGNAGE IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS

That Transportation Committee recommend that Council:
1.         Approve the proposed approach for the implementation of gateway speed limit signage in local residential areas citywide as outlined in this report; and,
2.         Approve the by-law to delegate to the General Manager, Transportation Services Department, the authority to establish and designate certain residential areas with gateway speed limit signage, as further outlined in this report and in the attached Document 3.
